Garage Door Insulation Install on an existing garage door.

Our customer in Bullard TX had installed air conditioning in his Barnard wanted to add insulation to the existing standard non insulated doors. We installed a vinyl backed insulation kit with an R-value of 6.5 to both of his 12x14 garage doors. We

The Problem

The homeowner had 2 existing garage doors in his air conditioned barn that were not insulated. There was also a few problem areas where the weather seals were not sealing as well as they should.

What We Found

On the bottom seal for both doors there was a garage caused by uneven concrete. The top seal for one of the doors was not sealing and had about an inch between the seal and the wall.

What We Did

We replaced both garage door bottom seals with oversized bottom seal kits to fill in the gaps the concrete caused. We adjusted the top seal of the garage door and the top brackets to make a complete seal to the framing of the garage door.

When installing a vinyl backed insulation kit it adds significant weight to the garage door. There was room for adjustment on the torsion system to compensate for the extra weight and we were able to balance the garage door with the existing torsion system.

The Result

Everything turned out well. The garage doors had a much better seal, the insulation kits nice and clean, and another happy customer.
