The garage door was noisy and sometimes struggled to close with the remote. At this Longview, TX job, we found rollers that had lost grease, a right-side track and flag bracket rubbing the door, and incorrect opener travel limits. Those settings had also pulled the opener's rail mounting bracket away from the wall. StraightShot Overhead replaced the full roller set with nylon rollers with steel ball bearings and completed a tune-up, including lubrication, torsion-system balancing, and opener force and travel-limit adjustments. The work serviced the existing door rather than replacing it.

The Problem

The homeowner wanted an inspection and service—not a replacement—for a noisy garage door that sometimes struggled to close using the remote. They suspected it needed lubrication or maintenance.

What We Found

The right-side vertical track and flag bracket needed adjustment to stop rubbing the door. The rollers had lost grease and were causing drag and noise. Incorrect opener travel limits had pulled the rail mounting bracket away from the wall, leaving it in need of tightening. A spring was stamped 2016, and the technician assessed the springs as past their service life, though still functioning well.

What We Did

We completed a 19-point inspection, lubricated and adjusted the garage door system, and balanced the torsion system. We set the existing Genie opener's force and travel limits and replaced the full set of rollers with nylon rollers with steel ball bearings.

The Result

The existing door received a full roller replacement and system tune-up rather than a door replacement. This wasn't just a lubrication job: the inspection also identified track rubbing and incorrect opener settings.
